Christian Taste in Entertainment

Recently the BJU Seminary’s PhD program hosted our biannual Theological Research Symposium. This is a forum for faculty and students to present and respond to papers on a variety of subjects in biblical and theological studies. My office-mate and fellow-blogger Greg Stiekes presented a stimulating study on the possibility that 2 Corinthians 11:2-3 alludes to a passage in 4 Maccabees. Perhaps Greg will post on that topic sometime.

Here, though, I want to highlight the other presentation made at the symposium. With his permission, I’m posting the paper read by Dr. Ron Horton. Years ago I had Dr. Horton as a philosophy professor, and I’ve always appreciated his careful scholarship motivated by devotion to Christ. In his paper “Christian Taste and the Art Entertainment World” (attached below), Dr. Horton has given us much to ponder regarding the application of biblical principles to our entertainment choices. I assure you that Dr. Horton’s material is not technical, nor is his viewpoint legalistic. I encourage you to read his paper carefully and consider it prayerfully.
