At BJU Seminary we want to enable our men and their wives to be trained together so that they can be be fully equipped to serve together. Although teachers, classes, books, and projects are important to a seminary student’s preparation for ministry, a man’s wife is far more important to his success in the work of the Lord.
That’s why the Seminary Wives Institute exists—to provide relevant ministry training and mentoring for the wives of the men in our seminary. Through monthly training sessions, opportunities to pursue formal training, and a community of like-minded women, the SWI seeks to support our seminary wives in their current ministries and equip them for future opportunities.
— Monthly training sessions throughout the semester led by experienced women in ministry.
— Instruction that is relevant to current ministry situations.
— Engaging topics discussed in an informal atmosphere.

Speaker: Tracee Veenstra currently works in the Student Life office at BJU. In 1990, Tracee married her high school sweetheart Tim, and his job took their family to both Brazil and Australia. Having close brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world is a testimony to their love for local church ministry. Tracee has a daughter, Brooklyn, who recently graduated from BJU and is now living in Florida with her husband, Justin Conn.
“Tracee is a good friend and one of the most joyful people I know. She has a heart to serve others, and I am grateful for her willingness to share some of her story with us. I know you will be moved to hear about her trust in God during some of life’s greatest difficulties.” ~Amy Johnson (Director, SWI)
Speaker: Linda Minnick, a 1974 graduate of BJU, has faithfully lived out her role as a pastor’s wife for more than 40 years. After serving in a small church in NC during graduate school, her husband, Mark Minnick, joined the staff of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, where he became the senior pastor in 1989. The Minnicks have three married daughters and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Minnick has served the ladies of Mount Calvary throughout the years in a variety of ways, but most especially through her excellent teaching and mentoring. In recent years she has been instrumental in the development of a number of the ladies’ ministries, including small-group Bible Studies, a one-on-one mentoring ministry, and classes for women and future pastors’ wives, including a Seminary Wives Fellowship.
“I have had the privilege of being able to sit under her teaching and mentoring for almost 20 years and am so grateful for her influence in my life. I have the utmost respect for her personal walk with the Lord, her knowledge of His Word, and for the wisdom with which she approaches life and ministry. I appreciate her humble and gracious spirit, and I am confident that each of us will greatly benefit from her teaching on prayer in the life of a ministry wife.” ~Cherith Newton (wife of BJU Seminary professor, Eric Newton)
